Youth running clubs and activities

Kids running clubs launched in the fall of 2011 in most Mebane elementary schools.  Clubs are organized outside of school hours, and are manned by elementary school teachers, staff, parents, and MOTM volunteers.  Clubs for E.M. Yoder, Bradford and South Mebane Elementary launched in 2011 and Garrett Elementary joined in 2012.   We added a home school program in 2013. Since its inception the running clubs have helped more than 1000 kids stay healthy and active!

Kids Marathon Program

We kept the momentum of the elementary school running clubs going through the summer! In 2012, we had almost 60 kids take part inour Inaugural Mebane on the Move Kids Marathon Program.  Registered participants from grades K-5 of the 2011-2012 school year tracked mileage through the summer and each accumulated 25.2 miles before MOTM’s Mad Dash on September 15th. All participants received a MOTM Kids Marathon Medal upon completion of the last mile—the Mad Dash. The program was a major success and was continued in 2013 and 2014!  Email for more information about signing up – the culminating mile this year will be at the MOTM event!
